Roy Keane airs true feeling over what Celtic ace did vs Jude Bellingham + says 'I used to do stuff like that'

A Celtic star’s sending off on Saturday sparked a thumping for his team.

Roy Keane has defended Celtic defender Liam Scales after a costly red card for the Republic of Ireland in defeat to England.

The away side at Wembley held their hosts to a stalemate in the first half but crumbled in a tumultuous second 45 in the Nations League B Group 2 match. Having been booked in the first half, Scales was sent off for a second yellow card and handed a penalty to the Three Lions. Harry Kane netted and England eventually won 5-0.

The Celtic star brought Jude Bellingham down in the box as the Real Madrid star cut back across him and the referee deemed it worthy of another yellow card. Man Utd icon and former Republic of Ireland plus Celtic midfielder Keane was in the ITV studio on punditry duty.

While he knows it was a sending off worthy moment, he has sympathy for the Celtic man. Keane said: “It’s the worst yellow card you can get as a centre-back. I used to do stuff like that and now I look at it and think, that’s stupidity.

“The sending-off has a huge effect. It’s obviously the right decision and with the penalty. They lost belief very quickly. They lost a bit of confidence – they lost three goals in six or seven minutes. It was a long way back for them.

“They conceded two or three from set pieces. It is hugely disappointing when you think about where they were at half-time. We said at half-time that England have the quality, but after the sending off it’s the real lack of belief after going a goal down.”
