Changes are needed at Clyde

The Broadwood boss watched his side slump to their ninth defeat of the season with a 2-0 loss to East Stirlingshire at the weekend.

Clyde are now five points adrift at the bottom of the third division, albeit with two games in hand.

Millar said: “It’s becoming quite obvious that we need to do something with the squad. The players we have here are not suited to the third division.

“I believe we have better players than third division players, but to get the results in this league you need to have guys who can adapt and grind out results. We’ve got better footballers than most third division clubs but sometimes that isn’t enough to win games.”

Saturday’s defeat to East Stirlingshire was in a similar vein to what Millar has grown used to this season.

He continued: “I felt we dominated for most of the game but had our usual kind of failure of not scoring at one end and conceeding at the other end.

“I would say both teams were in a similar boat, we hadn’t played in nine and I think they hadn’t in eight. But getting a goal gave them something to hold on to. We struggled to have any kind of cutting edge.”

Millar believes there is a possibility that a new player could join before Albion Rover’s visit on Saturday, but knows incentives are limited.

He added: “There’s very limited room in our budget. We’ve lost Murray Henderson, but his wages were just small. There’s still a few days left so you never know what could happen before the weekend, we’ll see if any interesting players become available or if any players want to leave the club that might make more money available.”

Clyde have announced that children will get free entry to Saturday’s match against Albion Rovers. This offer is open to any children under 16 years of age who are accompanied by an adult.
