The family fun event will support a cause close to the hearts of many local people - Strathcarron Hospice.

Organiser Ian Elliottsaid: “There will be plenty of things on besides football. We’ll have a mini carnival with pony trekking, face painting and a dance crew. There will also be a pipe band.

“ Paul Lawson of Motherwell FC has also agreed to do the prizegiving.”

The George Thomson Memorial Cup will be held from 9am until 5pm, and be followed by an evening ball also in Hat-Trix. Admission is £3 for adults and £1.50 for children and pensioners.

The football action kicks off at 9.30am with a U16 cup game between Renfrew Vics and Clydebank, and is followed at 11am with Amateur competition between Anderson Victoria and Cumbernauld Rovers.
