Clyde manager Barry Ferguson has managed to avoid the traditional '˜curse' of the '˜Manager of the Month award.

The Bully Wee boss picked up the League 2 award for February from sponsors Ladbrokes last Tuesday .

Although winners often lose their next match, Clyde promptly won two out of two by beating East Stirlingshire and Elgin City.

However, Ferguson missed Saturday’s defeat of table toppers Elgin because he was in Spain completing his UEFA Pro Licence coaching badges.

That left assistant Bob Macolm on dugout duties for the visit of the Highlanders.

And he admitted afterwards: “I know why he gets stressed on a Saturday night now. I’ll be glad when he gets back.”

Next up on Saturday is Clyde’s third match in 19 days against East Stirlingshire as they return to Ochilview where they won 3-0 last Tuesday to avenge their 1-0 defeat at Broadwood the previous week.

Ferguson’s award came after guiding his side to three wins from their four matches during the month, losing only their first match 1-0 at leaders Elgin.

That run got Clyde’s promotion push back on track after a nightmare start to 2016 which saw them lose their first four games of the year.

It’s Ferguson’s second monthly award of the season - he also picked up the prize for November. But he was quick to give his players the credit for their recent turnaround.

And he said: “It’s not an award for me, it’s for my staff and my players.

“They’ve done well to get us back in there after we fell behind in terms of games.”
