The facility was opened by the Carbon Clyde project for the first time before the Bully Wee’s recent opening league fixture against Montrose.

Manager Barry Ferguson and first team players Peter MacDonald and Sean Higgins joined chief executive David Douglas for the official opening.

Another first teamer, David Gormley, was first to donate his own boots and was quickly followed by board member David Wiseman.

The facility will be open at each home match for anyone wishing to donate and the aim is to distribute all the donated kit and boots within the community of Cumbernauld.

Project manager Karen Welsh said “I was delighted with our opening on Saturday and I thank Barry, Dave, Peter and Sean for joining the team at the official opening. The fans were amazing, kindly donating to our new facility.

“We encourage you all to have a clear out and drop your kit and boots to us at Broadwood. Many of the things we throw away haven’t always reached the end of their useful life. Something that you don’t want any more can still be used by someone else.

“Zero Waste Scotland have completed research and say that by donating items for re-use in your local community you can help others, who will in turn appreciate these donations.”

The facility will be open again before this Saturday’s match with Cowdenbeath.
