Clyde still after first win of 2016

A combination of defeats by Queen’s Park and Montrose and postponed matches mean the Bully Wee haven’t won since their 4-2 success at Annan on Boxing Day.

Barry Ferguson’s side will be out to put that right against an East Fife side who are also very much in the hunt for promotion.

Clyde’s latest setback came on Saturday when - despite taking the lead - they lost 2-1 at Montrose in a match which saw two missed penalties and Clyde playing with 10 men from the 16th minute after Michael Bolochoweckyj was red-carded.

But despite the disappointment of their second league defeat at Montrose this season - they also lost 2-0 there back in August - the Bully Wee boss insisted he couldn’t fault his players for their display.

He said: “It’s always difficult playing with 10 men but we still controlled the game.

“In the second half I never thought we were under any real danger. I still thought we were the better team, we had the chances. I’m still happy with their performance and their attitude.

“We had a few chances and then I had to change it again. I probably changed it two or three times just to have a go, but I can’t fault my players.”

The defeat left Clyde fifth in the table, nine points adrift of leaders Elgin but with two games in hand.

Saturday’s opponents East Fife are third and beat Clyde 1-0 on their last visit to Methil in September, although Clyde turned the tables with a 2-0 win at Broadwood in December.
