Colts co-manager Craig McKinlay believes the club’s inclusion represents a ‘fantastic’ opportunity for the club and the town.

But he knows his side face a tough test to establish themselves.

They open against a Whitehill Welfare side who lost 2-1 at home to Threave Rovers in their opening match on Saturday and then face reigning champions Edinburgh City at Broadwood on Saturday.

McKinlay said: “Whitehill will be a tough test. They lost their opening game on Saturday so they will be looking to bounce back from that and put it right.

“We’ve had a really busy three weeks and have crammed in six games. It’s been a bit manic but we feel we are ready.

We’re well organised and everyone is really looking forward to it. It’s a fresh challenge for all of us.”

The Colts co-boss said he and James Orr’s initial aim is simply to consolidate their position in the league, but that in the longer term he wants to develop a brand of football which will encourage supporters along.

He said: “We are realistic, it’s going to be tough. There are a lot of established teams in there but we just want to go in there and establish ourselves and play the type of football that suits us.

“We have a view on how we want to play the game but that will take time. Initially we’ll be looking to be organised and difficult to beat but we have a lot of exciting players at the club and although it will take time we want to be able to get the best out of them.”

Tonight’s game kicks off at 7.45pm and admission prices are £5 for adults with a child admitted free if accompanied by an adult and £2 for concessions.
