Cumbernauld Colts look to bounce back from Cup defeat

Following last week’s postponement of the match at Whitehill Welafre, the game will be Colts’ first since their Scottish Cup adventure came to an end with last week’s 6-0 defeat at Stirling Albion.

Cumbernauld Colts co-manager Craig McKinlay admitted that his side didn’t do themselves justice at Forthbank.

He said: “I think we massively underperformed.

“We are a little bit short in terms of experience at that level and I think it got the better of a few of the players.

“We have got a good side but unfortunately we didn’t show it and the fact they didn’t do themselves justice was the most disappointing thing.

“However we must also say that Stirling Albion played particularly well. They put us under pressure early on and we struggled to recover from that.

“Having said that we still have to be happy with what we have done this year.

“But we have a young side and the experience they will get from it will be massive and there’s no doubt what they will take from it will make them stronger for the rest of the league campaign and for next year.”

Colts will now look to bounce back from their Cup KO when they take on BSC Glasgow - a side they beat 4-0 away from home earlier in the season.

McKinlay said: “It’s important that we recover and get the game out of our system and hopefully we can do that against BSC Glasgow on Friday night.

“They will be looking to respond to the result we had against them earlier in the season, but we can’t read anything into that match.

“We have been on a good run in the league and what we have to do is get back to playing the way we have been recently.”
