The match, played behind closed doors, saw Danny Lennon's side go four up by half-time.

Goodwillie opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 20 minutes and added a second, again from the spot, eight minutes later.

Kristoffer Syvertsen, who missed most of last season through injury, got the third with a rasping drive from the edge of the box into the top corner of the net.

The Norwegian then opened up the United defence with a terrific run on the right before cutting the back from the bye-line for Goodwillie to tap home and complete his hat-trick.

Goodwillie completed the scoring 12 minutes from time with another close-range finish.

It was the second pre-season friendly outing for Clyde, following a goalless draw with Cumbernauld Colts, but a first for United who fielded former skipper Kevin Nicoll in their line-up.
