Duffy delighted to see side dig in for win

LAST week’s victory over Berwick Rangers has shown Bully Wee manager Jim Duffy his team are capable of ‘digging in’ to get a result.

Clyde’s 2-0 triumph over The Borderers at Broadwood, their first home win of the season, saw them holding on to a one nil lead under heavy pressure for much of the second-half before sub Kevin Finlayson sealed the win mintues from time.

Duffy said: “We were delighted to get the victory, it’s been such a long time since the previous one and the longer you go the more it’s highlighted.

“I think we played very well in the first half but fell out of the game in the first 20 minutes of the second. They showed that they can dig in when things are not going their way and I was delighted with that.

“I’ve been told that a couple of times this season they’ve been the better side but haven’t done so well but to see them dig in and allow the game to settle back down was good.”

Duffy was disappointed Saturday’s trip to Gayfield to face title chasers Arbroath was called off due to a waterlogged pitch, but says his team must stay focused.

He added: “Regardless if it’s the league leaders away, you’re prepared for that game and it’s disappointing when it doesn’t go ahead, particularly when you’ve had a couple of good performances.”

On last night’s opponents, Duffy added: “They’ve been very consistent, that’s why they’re up there. For us, we’re looking to play a bit better with each game.”

Clyde were due to play Albion Rovers last night at Broadwood. The match away to Arbroath has been rescheduled for April 13.
