Duffy set to stay at Bully Wee

The team’s fortunes have been transformed since Duffy took over at the beginning of February – having played 20 games since, the team have notched up seven wins and five draws, adding 26 points to their prior tally of six.

Duffy said: “The building will start right away for the new season. Our first objective will be to try and improve, try and get one point more than this year and move on from there.

“The board wanted to make sure the club had a sound financial foundation to build from before they asked if I would be interested in staying on.

“It’s about taking our time and moving forward realistically. I’d like to keep the nucleus of the squad we have at the moment but that depends on the finances and the players themselves.”

The Bully Wee’s last home game of the season didn’t quite go to plan on Saturday as Queen’s Park grabbed all three points with a two-nil win.

Duffy said: “We created a number of chances but our concentration let us down at times. We were pretty even for much of the game. I was pleased with the players’ work rate.”

With Saturday’s trip to Stranraer being the last game of the season, Clyde are enjoying their first week without a match since before Duffy took charge.

He added: “It’s nice to have a week to prepare for a game. We’ll be looking for a win to finish on a positive note.”
