Germans in the ascendency...

Rangers need to settle down and regain their composure. They’ve been a bit ragid at the start of the second half.

Another good opening for the Germans sees Japanese frontman Kamada pick out Jesper Lindstrom but his effort takes a deflection and flashes behind for a corner, with McGregor stranded on the spot.

Time for Van Bronckhorst to look at making a change, perhaps? Kemar Roofe and Aaron Ramsey are two possible options for the Dutchman...

Second half underway...

It has been energy sapping stuff in sweltering Spain. Frankfurt have posed the greater threat during the first 25 minutes but Rangers have battled well and had opportunities of their own.

Rangers have struggled to bring Joe Aribo into play, while Ryan Kent has not been in the game as much as Giovanni van Bronckhorst would’ve liked. The Dutchman needs more from his influential winger.

There have been several warning signs as well. You feel both teams have got plenty more to offer.

No changes to either side as the team emerge for the start of the second half. Smoke billows through the air as Frankfurt fans let off pyrotechnics inside the ground.

It’s goalless at the interval in the searing heat of Seville. Rangers managed to survive a good period of Frankfurt pressure but they’ve grown into the contest as the half wore on.

There have been a few chances at either end but we still await a breakthrough.

Germans posing a strong threat...

Seconds after Filip Kostic’s ambitious volley from 30 yards nestles on the roof of Allan McGregor’s net, Frankfurt spark another quick counter-attack.

A poor header from captain James Tavernier from a set-piece allows the Germans to break up the pitch through the lively Serbian but he drags a shot wide of the far post from wide on the left.

Clever turn from Scott Wright midway inside the Frankfurt half as he plays the ball on to Joe Aribo but the Nigerian’s shot on the turn is curled inches wide of the post.
