Guest speaker at the night, held in the club’s function room, was Tony McAndrew, former Chelsea and Middlesbrough player who is now youth team manager at Aston Villa.

He told the boys that while being a professional footballer was the best job in the world, it also meant sacrifices in life style and dedication and hard work.

He also told the boys that he took the risk of signing former Lenzie player Barry Bannan when other clubs - including Celtic - said he was too small.

He said that the players should take inspiration from how well he has done and realise that size and physique were not as important as skill and work rate.

The club made awards to all the boys for the effort and commitment and there were also a number of special awards which were presented as follows -

Supporters’ player - Dylan McLaughlin. Most Improved Players - Jonathan Loch, Lewis Gargano and goalkeeper Lewis Graham.

Players’ player - Lewis Crawford. Player of the Year - Matthew Gunn.
