Former St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright emerges as bookies favourite for Motherwell job

Former St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright is the early favourite with bookmakers to take over from Stephen Robinson as Motherwell manager.

The Steelmen announced today that Robinson has resigned from his post after nearly four years in charge and that the job of putting a new boss in place would “move at pace, mindful of the busy fixture list and the January transfer window’s impending opening.”

Scottish bookmakers McBookie.com make fellow Northern Irishman Wright the 6/4 favourite for the job with current interim gaffer Keith Lasley second favourite at 4/1.

Former Livingston boss Gary Holt is priced at 6/1 while ‘Well coach Maurice Ross is also priced at 6/1 as is club icon Stephen Craigen.

Other names on the list include former Scotland and Hearts gaffer Craig Levein at 10/1, ex-well midfielder Simo Valakari also at 10/1 and Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink at 16/1.
