Commenting on the win, City boss Wolecki Black said, “We were slow to get into the game today. However we did go in at the half time 3-0 up and took our chances well.

“I thought second half we really controlled the game, passed the ball well and created a number of chances. It was pleasing to see Sue get back on the scoresheet after her injury absence and I am convinced she is only going to get better for what is a vital stage of the season for us.”

It was the visitors who enjoyed the first real opportunity to take the lead capitalising on a City defensive mistake in the opening moments of the match, but Rachel McLauchlan was unable to take full advantage as her shot back off the underside of the bar.

City took the lead on 24 minutes when Jo Love played in Fiona Brown and the young forward turned her player before placing a right foot shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Suzanne Lappin doubled the lead four minutes before the break expertly using the outside of her boot to turn a clever shot past Rebecca Flaherty in the Aberdeen nets. Two minutes later Abbi Grant made it 3-0 firing a Jo Love cut back into the back of the net and ensuring a comfortable lead for City at the break.

Grant hit the bar in the second half and Lappin had a header come back off the post, before the reigning Champions scored number four as Suzanne Lappin headed home from a City corner.

The SWPL now stops for the international break, with City resuming domestic action on Sunday 21st September when they will take on Spartans at Airdre Excelsior Stadium, 2.30pm.
