Petershill-based City are due to face the Germans on August 21 in San Sebastian and Anderson, who had already donated £250,000 to the Scottish women’s game, and £3million to the SPFL, will cover their Covid-19 testing and travel costs.

She said: “The stark reality is if James hadn’t come forward then I don’t know how we could ever have played this game.

“Uefa want teams to go on their own plane. It was the most amazing news when he told me he would cover that.”
