‘If we work hard then we will get a result’

JIM Duffy hopes his players have now realised they can compete with much of what division three has to throw at them after Saturday’s ‘spirited’ draw against Albion Rovers.

Clyde battled bravely in difficult conditions at Cliftonhill and never looked out of their depth against the promotion-chasing Coatbridge side.

Duffy said: “We played well and put in a really spirited performance. We definitely merited a point. They were coming off the back of a 6-1 win so they were brimming with confidence.

“But I thought our players were excellent. It just shows them when they really trust themselves and work hard they can go out and compete with most teams.”

But there’s no time for the Bully Wee to rest on their laurels as league leaders Arbroath were due to visit Broadwood last night.

Duffy continued: “We now go from playing second top to top so we’ve got our work cut out for us. I’ve spoken to several managers in the division and the consensus of opinion is that Arbroath are the best team in the league and are rightfully soaring at the top.

“It’s a home game and at the moment the pitch at Broadwood is in terrific shape but the opposition enjoy that as well, so it’s only a boost if you win.”

At Broadwood on Saturday the Bully Wee will entertain Montrose, who have netted 11 times in the previous two encounters between the sides this season.

Duffy added: “All of the teams in this division have their own strengths, that gives you a different proposition each game. But if we work as hard as we did against Albion Rovers then we will get a result.”
