Manager Mark Weir hails Carluke Rovers’ newly established U20s side

Carluke Rovers manager Mark Weir has hailed the club’s newly established under-20 side.

From next season, an under-20 league on Friday nights will supplement the main Rovers side’s debut season in Conference B of the West of Scotland League.

Weir said: “It is a great idea and we should have done it long before now.

“The good thing is that, depending on how the boys do, they will have a great opportunity to step up and play matches in the first team.”

Weir has 17 signed players for next season and hopes to add another two before the campaign gets underway. He reckons it could be December before the season starts.
