Kouider-Aissa proved a goal machine in his stint at single season at Duncansfield, netting a remarkable 41 goals in the 2018-19 campaign.

That earned him a move last summer switch to Queen’s Park, where his 17 goals in a curtailed campaign attracted the attention of Livingston.

The Almondale outfit have now taken him on after a two-week trial and he made his first appearance on Saturday as a substitute in a friendly with Dundee United.

It’s a second crack at senior success for the 24-year-old who struggled in previous spells at Stenhousemuir, Queen of the South and Stirling Albion after being with Motherwell and Hearts asd a youngster.

But after rekindling his game with spells at local amateur side Lenzie Thistle and then in the junior ranks with Kilsyth Rangers, he’s now looking to kick on his career again.

And Kilsyth club secretary William Dunbar reckons it’s an inspirational example for others to follow.

He said: “Everyone at the club is absolutely delighted for Salim.

“It’s only two years ago he came to us and he was playing amateur football before that.

“He was a really enthusiastic guys when he was with us and he was a really fit guy, and you don’t get over 40 goals in one season by accident.

“We were delighted to see him get his chance with Queen’s Park, and now it’s great to see him go to the very top level.”

“It’s nice for the club to get a bit of kudos for being part of his journey, but it just shows that you can get the platform when you come out of senior football.

“It’s an inspirational story for players who do drop down a few levels when they are young; you can still make it to that top level, it’s not too late.”

“I sent him a text just to wish him well from everyone at the club.

“He’s an excellent player who excelled for us. He is a great header of the ball, he is strong, and hopefully he does well at that level.”
