Harestanes 0

Bannockburn 2

Harestanes’ hopes of lifting the Premier League crown took a huge knock on Saturday at Merkland.

Considering the effort, standard of performance and spirit shown over much of the season this can only be described as mega-disappointing.

They started well enough over maybe the first 20 minutes and then disappeared.

Their two most memorable moments in the first half were a free kick from McClure, which was on target, but the keeper sved easily.

Then J. Marshall fought his way through the Bannockburn defence, but shot narrowly wide.

Bannockburn’s two goals came in the first half. The first from the penalty spot when Evans was adjudged the offender.

The second came from a well-worked shot from mid-position just outside the 18-yard line - a low shot sent into the corner.

All credit to Bannockburn. Their midfield controlled the game, they defended well, shut Harestanes down and took their chances when they came.

Harestanes made little impact in the second half. The closest they came was a header from Evans, which was just wide.
