Kirkintilloch Rob Roy beat Cumbernauld United for first senior win

Kirkintilloch Rob Roy got their first win a senior club with a 4-1 victory over landlords Cumbernauld United in their West of Scotland League clash at Guy’s Meadow.

Rabs, looking to bounce back from losses to Darvel and Beith in their opening two games, got off to the perfect start with a sixth minute opener rom Ian Gold.

Cumbernauld levelled on 13 minutes with a composed strike from Tom Neil but a quickfire double then put the ‘visitors’ in command.

Craig Truesdale restored Rob Roy’s lead in the 20th minute and just two minutes later a Scott Gold goal doubled their advantage.

Victory was sealed Alex Cassells added a fourth 12 minutes from time.

The win lifted Stewart Maxwell’s side up to ninth place in the table.

Next up for Rob Roy next Saturday is a home match with unbeaten league leaders Clydebank, managed by Maxwell’s former assistant Gordon Moffat.
