In a double swoop, Lanark United have signed ex-Airdrie United and Brechin City striker Ryan Donnelly and former Blantyre Victoria winger John Henderson.

United boss Jamie McKenzie told the Carluke and Lanark Gazette: "Ryan, who has also been with me at Gartcairn, will join us as a player/coach.

"He has so much experience. While he was with Airdrie he was down on trial at Wigan. He is a fantastic finisher, he was one that we were really keen to get so I’m delighted to get that done.

“John has been at the club a long time ago and has since been at Blantyre and Ashfield. He can play on either side of the wing and can also play up front so it’s a good addition.”

Jamie is also well on the way towards signing another new striker who is currently playing in the amateur ranks but is a former junior player.
