Last gasp strike drags Rob Roy towards the relegation battle

Playing with a strong wind advantage, Rabs went all out on the attack with a Sawyers shot pushed around the post by Bankies keeper Hamilton in the 5th minute. Deas then sent a long range effort over the bar. A minute later the same player headed a long throw-in from Brogan over the top.

Hamilton did well to save at the feet of Sawyers as the Rabs striker was set to pull the trigger in the penalty box. In a Clydebank raid only an well timed Brogan tackle prevented Campbell from advancing on the Rabs’ goal.

In the 18th minute, Sawyers was unlucky to see his header cleared off the Bankies goal-line before Morton headed a cross from the right wing over the bar.

At the other end Rabs’ keeper did well when diving low to push a McPherson drive around the post. Minutes later the home keeper was again in action this time making a neat diving save from a Campbell shot.

Not helped by the strong tricky wind, play was untidy as both sides struggled to find their player with passes. The best chance of the second half fell to Sawyers who had again had his header cleared off the line, this time by the head of McCann. With the elements behind them, Clydebank were beginning to look dangerous. Campbell fired just over the bar before Patterson send his drive past the post.

Rabs keeper Wilson, playing a fine game between the sticks, made another wonderful save this time pushing a goalbound McPherson free-kick over the bar. Rabs retaliated with Morton setting up Deas at the edge of the box but the Rabs man sent his shot over the bar.

Almost three minutes into stoppage time there was heartbreak for Rabs, who battled throughout, when Wilson parried a shot but was unable to stop Jamie Campbell from scrambling the rebound into the net for Clydebank’s winner.
