New signings for Rob Roy

A large contingent of last season’s squad has already put pen to paper, while Maxwell has also brought in a handful of new additions.

The manager snapped up Cumbernauld duo Scott Upton and Dominic O’Halloran, while also bringing in winger Richie Change from Renfrew.

Gary McMenamin also arrives from Cumnock along with former Shotts midfielder Paul Finnegan.

Most recently, the Rabs have signed seasoned goalkeeper Johnny Murdoch from First Division rivals Pollok.

Maxwell believes the club should be encouraged by the recent pre-season business and is optimistic for the coming campaign.

He told the Herald: “I don’t think there will be too much more from us before the start of the season.

“We’ve been really busy over the last month getting this team together.

“We’ll get ourselves through pre-season and into the Sectional League Cup. If at that point we identify any areas that need strengthened, we’ll do so.

“But, really, it is a good group of players we have here just now, so even in that instance, I seriously doubt we would have to bring in more than one or two new players.”

Also heading for Rob Roy is former East Stirlingshire midfielder Jordan McKechnie.

The 22-year-old previously had spells with Raith Rovers and Annan Athletic.

A more productive youth element has been on the manager’s radar over the past month as he moved to bring in some of the most sought-after youngsters in the area.

Defender Greg Barr has signed on from Arthurlie U21s while Stevie Aitken and Jamie Hammill have both moved up from Campsie Black Watch.

The introduction of hitman Stevie Aitken is an addition to savour, with the youngster netting 37 goals from 36 games in his final season for Black Watch.
