No joker – Rossvale FC forced to shuffle the pack

ROSSVALE FC gaffer Ian Gray has become so used to ‘shuffling the pack’ that he could be in line for a job at a Las Vegas casino.

Certainly, the Bishopbriggs side are due a lucky break after suffering from personnel problems all season.

It’s been a headache for Gray just to get a team on the park most Saturdays and the weekend was no exception.

Injuries, call-offs and AWOL players have all contributed to Vale being reduced to the bare bones. The lack of experienced players – especially in the back line – saw Rossvale crash to a 5-1 defeat away to Cambuslang on Saturday.

It wasn’t a huge surprise for Gray who, ironically, felt his team had played better than in recent games.

He said: “I’m having to chop and change the team. We’ve not got any money to buy anybody so it’s almost impossible to get players in.

“We need to dig in and see ourselves through the next few weeks and see if we can get some players back.”

On Saturday Rossvale take on Newmains United at Petershill Park – kick-off at 2pm.

Newmains shocked Maryhill last month when they beat them at their own ground, so Rossvale will be wary.

Gray emphasised: “All of the teams in the league are decent sides.”

The Bishopbriggs team are still in a decent position in the Central District Second Division, one of three teams on 12 points behind leaders Maryhill.
