Two goals in the closing 10 minutes earned the points at Guy’s Meadow on Saturday as the Kirkintilloch side shrugged off the loss of an early goal and their SEVENTH penalty miss of the season.

Manager Stewart Maxwell was delighted to see his side bounce back from their defeat by Wishaw - but insisted that despite being table toppers the priority for his newly promoted side, away at Arthurlie this week, remains survival.

He said: “It took us a while to get going but in the second half in particular I thought we were terrific.

“Perhaps it was a bit fortunate in that the win came from an own goal in the last minute but I was delighted to get it, particularly for the supporters.

“They were looking forward to a good cup run, although no-one was more disappointed than myself at last week’s result.

“They still turned up to back us despite the fact we let them down so that was for them.

“But I’ve been in this game too long to look too far ahead.

“Even though we’re top this is a very tight league and our aim is still survival. I think 25 points is what we’re looking at to be sure of safety.”
