Rabs stars hungry for more cup successes

Rob Roy will be hoping to be northern stars when they kick off their Scottish Junior Cup campaign with a trip to Inverurie.

Stewart Maxwell’s side face Colony Park, who currently sit second in the North Region Super League. Although they did lose 4-2 to Hermes at the weekend.

But with Rabs still enjoying a perfect start to their own campaign, Maxwell knows that on form they can be a match for anyone.

He said: “I had them watched against Hermes at the weekend and we’ll gather as much information as we can on them.

“We know the pitfalls. They are playing against a team at the top of the Super League, you don’t know what their pitch is like. It’s a four and a half hour journey up there.

“With all these type of things we know it’s not going to be easy but I have a good bunch of boys and they will prepare in the right way.

“A good run in the Scottish Junior Cup would be massive for the club.

“The league is always your priority but the Scottish Junior Cup is the glamour competition and a good run really raises the club’s profile.

“The boys have already tasted cup success and that makes you want more.

“I don’t think we’ve gone beyond the fourth round in my time here and we’ve had a series of really tough draws which haven’t helped.

“But with the run we’ve been on I don’t think there will be too many teams keen to draw Rob Roy either.”
