Rain is no pain for Bishopbriggs juniors side

THEY say every cloud has a silver lining – that was certainly true for Rossvale FC at the weekend.

Poor weather saw Saturday’s game away to Cambuslang called off – which was a relief for the Bishopbriggs juniors side, who were severely lacking firepower up front.

Manager Ian Gray told the Herald: “I’m glad it was off as we were really struggling for a team and had no forwards, so it worked out in our favour.”

Rossvale welcome Ardeer Thistle FC in the second round of the Emirates Junior Cup this Saturday.

The game kicks off at 2.30pm at Petershill Park.

Gray said: “At least three of the players who would have missed the game last Saturday will be available and hopefully another couple who are struggling with injuries may be fit.

“Squad-wise we should be in a reasonably healthy position.

“It’s a winnable tie for us as Ardeer are at an equivalent level in the Ayrshire district league so hopefully we’ll get the right result.

“It would be nice to get a wee run in the cup as that would boost confidence for the league campaign.”
