A report has shed light on a contract dispute at Aston Villa between the club and a former Rangers player.
Rory Wilson was a promising player coming out of the Ibrox academy who was being tipped for big things. He was lured by the bright lights of the Premier League before Rangers could fully see what he was made of, joining Aston Villa, where he has shone in their youth ranks.

The Daily Record report “Rory Wilson’s contract stand-off is down to a lack of a pathway to the Aston Villa first-team rather than money.” He has been offered “a number of five year contract extensions from the English Premier League outfit but has failed to agree an extension.”
His contract is up at Aston Villa in the summer, which would be a blow for both them and his former club. Walking away at the end of his terms would see Wilson be able to sign for “another top club outside of England for just €270,000 in training compensation.”
Wilson netted 46 times for his club and country last season with “a number of top European clubs are already watching his situation closely.” Rangers sold him for an initial fee of £350,000 and it could reach seven figures with add-ons, but with them due 10% of any future deal, they may hope Wilson’s contract dispute is resolved so they can cash in again.
