‘I will be back’ - Rangers idol leaves managerial role after just one month in shock social media announcement

Former Rangers star Nacho Novo has announced his sudden departure from USL League One side Lexington SC - just one month after landing his first managerial role.

The Gers idol took over the reins at the Kentucky-based outfit - nicknamed the ‘boys in green’ - four weeks ago from close friend Sam Stockley, who stepped aside to concentrate on his sporting director post.

Novo had spent a short spell as assistant coach and under-23s boss before stepping up into the hot seat of the United States third-tier club. However, the Spaniard failed to win any of his five matches in charge - losing two and drawing three - and was unable to improve their standing in the 12-team league, with the club finishing ninth overall.

And the 44-year-old former striker has decided to leave his role following the dismal start to his tenure. He wrote on Instagram: “Well today I said bye to Lexington. It was a good season. Thanks to all the fans and players. Good luck for next season.”

Novo followed that up by sharing an image of him celebrating a goal from his Ibrox playing days, with the caption: “Thanks everyone for your support. I will be back.”
