Rangers put £20m January price tag on ace as ex Celtic and Middlesbrough star sacked at latest club
The latest headline from Celtic and Rangers ahead of the November international break
Rangers midfielder Nico Raskin continued his mini-revival with a crucial goal in the club’s recent 3-0 victory over Dundee.
It was his first league goal of the campaign, ending a seventh month stint without a league strike since his effort away at Celtic in a 3-2 victory towards the end of last season.
Raskin’s return to form has coincided with a three-match winning streak and a much improved feeling around the club under new boss Danny Rohl after a disastrous start to the campaign under Russell Martin.
The Belgian has a central role to play if the Light Blues are to salvage this campaign and turn it into a positive season - and the Rangers board are more than aware of his value to the team.
Rangers set £20m price tag on Nico Raskin
After a summer of uncertainty surrounding the future of Nico Raskin, the Rangers hierarchy have made it clear that they don’t intend to sell the talented midfielder this winter amid growing reports of interest from sides in Serie A.
It’s reported by TEAMtalk that two Italian clubs are weighing January approaches for the 24-year-old. The same outlet also explains that Tottenham Hotspur, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham United, Burnley, and Crystal Palace, who all were linked over the summer, could also join the race this winter alongside a number of unnamed clubs from the Bundesliga.
New Ibrox gaffer Danny Röhl has consistently praised Raskin’s influence. He’s expected to fight to keep the midfielder and is thought to be only willing to listen to offers if they’re in the region of £18m to £20m.
Raskin, who was signed from Standard Liege, is under contract until the summer of 2027.
Ex-Celtic and Middlesbrough star sacked
Former Celtic and Middlesbrough midfielder Barry Robson has been sacked from his role as manager of Raith Rovers after an 11-month stint at Stark's Park. The 17-time Scotland international, who also played for Dundee United, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United, leaves after losing four of his last six Championship matches. Rovers are 13 points behind league leaders St Johnstone, but just one behind Fife rivals Dunfermline Athletic in fourth spot.
The club has not yet announced who will take interim charge of their next match against bottom-of-the-table Airdrieonians.
Assistant Manager Andy Kirk, who made 114 league appearances for Hearts between 1999 and 2004, will also leave his position alongside the former Aberdeen boss.
