Rangers equalled their biggest win of the season by dismantling poor Kilmarnock 6-0 at a rain-soaked Ibrox to close the gap on second-placed Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.
Captain James Tavernier scored his first league goal of the campaign to get the ball rolling in Govan after racing in at the back post to stroke home Ianis Hagi’s cross.
The Light Blues had to wait until the second half to extend their lead as two quickfire goals from Danilo, who turned home another Hagi delivery, and Hamza Igamane fired home a emphatic third.
It was 4-0 just beyond the hour mark when Vaclav Cerny’s driven effort flew beyond the goalkeeper before substitute Cyriel Dessers bagged a late brace by turning in two crosses, the first of which was awarded after a VAR intervention.
This was a dominant display from Philippe Clement’s side as they secured their third victory on the spin. They quite simple blew their Ayrshire visitors away after the interval and are steadily beginning to rebuild some momentum at the perfect time heading into the Premier Sports Cup Final later this month.
