Rangers reach mega £15.4m transfer agreement over deadline day deal as attacking wildcard could follow
Eredivisie giants would prefer a permanent sale of the Bosnian international but are open to a loan agreement
Rangers have emerged as a potential destination for PSV Eindhoven winger Esmir Bajraktarevic, with the Bosnia and Herzegovina international reportedly on the club’s radar as the Scottish transfer window heads towards its 5pm deadline.
The 21-year-old has been identified as another attacking option for Derek McInnes, with Rangers already working on a major overhaul of their squad this summer. The Ibrox club have been particularly active in the closing stages of the window and are continuing to explore opportunities before the domestic deadline.
Bajraktarevic’s name has surfaced alongside Rangers’ pursuit of Badredine Bouanani, while the club are also finalising a £9.5m plus add-ons deal for Portland Timbers striker Kevin Kelsy, underlining McInnes’ desire to add further attacking quality.

The PSV player would represent a different type of option. Primarily deployed as a winger, Bajraktarevic is capable of operating on either flank and offers pace, direct running and the ability to attack defenders one-on-one.
His availability is understood to be linked to PSV’s willingness to sanction a departure. Reports from the Netherlands suggest the Eredivisie champions would prefer a permanent sale, although a loan arrangement remains possible. Rangers are among the clubs understood to have shown interest, according to the Daily Record.
That could make negotiations particularly intriguing for the Light Blues. A permanent transfer would require a significant financial commitment, especially given Bajraktarevic remains under contract with PSV until 2029. The Dutch club signed him from MLS side New England Revolution in January 2025, when he moved to Eindhoven as a highly regarded young prospect.
Bajraktarevic initially came through the New England Revolution system before establishing himself in Major League Soccer. His performances earned him international recognition, first with the United States youth teams and subsequently with Bosnia.
He made his senior debut in September 2024 against the Netherlands and has since become part of the national-team setup. He also made his Champions League debut for PSV against Arsenal in March 2025, highlighting the level of experience he has already gained despite his age.
His time at PSV, however, has been somewhat stop-start. While he has made appearances for the Dutch giants, reports suggest he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter and has often been restricted to substitute appearances. That situation has helped fuel speculation over a possible exit.
The appeal is obvious for Rangers. McInnes has already overseen a dramatic rebuilding process, with 12 new players brought into the club during the window. Adding another young, internationally experienced wide man would give McInnes further competition and provide an alternative attacking profile.
However, there is currently no indication that a deal has been completed. With the Scottish deadline approaching, Rangers have limited time to determine whether Bajraktarevic can be brought to Ibrox.
Bouanani deal enters final stages
Meanwhile, Rangers pursuit of Algerian international Badredine Bouanani is gathering pace with Sky Germany report Florian Plettenberg claiming that Rangers have reached an agreement with VfB Stuttgart that will see the 21-year-old winger join on a one-year loan, with a €18m option to buy included in the agreement.
Bouanani is already in Scotland undergoing his medical, with the deal now at the final stage. It marks a major deadline day move for Rangers, who have moved quickly to secure the Algerian international.
