Rangers star tipped as Hearts transfer candidate with 'top class' ace a possible Lawrence Shankland makeweight
The forward has been touted as a potential replacement for the inbound Rangers man
Rangers striker Bojan Miovski would be an ideal replacement for Lawrence Shankland at Hearts, according to former Jambo Michael Stewart.
The Light Blues have agreed a deal to sign the Hearts captain on a free transfer in what is a statement of intent from boss Danny Rohl. Shankland is now said to be close to undergoing his medical at Ibrox, and if all goes well, he’ll be the first signing of the summer. Hearts will now have to look at replacing their talisman, whose scored 88 goals in 171 appearance over his four years in Gorgie.
Miovski hasn’t had things all his own way in Govan this season and has more often than not, been deployed from the bench. However, despite the 26-year old’s lack of minutes, he still managed to register 13 goals in all competitions last season. Having also played for Aberdeen, Miovski is a player Stewart says Hearts should be looking at in the summer window as a potential replacement.
‘Top class’ Miovski touted for Hearts switch
Speaking on the Scottish Football Social Club on 25 May, Stewart said, “Maybe Miovski on loan, part of the deal. I think it would be silly not to look at something like that. Miovski is a top-class finisher. And if you had a chance to get him, Hearts are an incredibly attractive proposition when you look at what’s happened. In the Champions League qualifiers. You never know.”
Since signing from Girona last summer, Miovski has fallen further and further down Rohl’s selection pecking order as the season has wore on, with fellow marksmen Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi both ahead of him. During his time at Pittodrie, he scored 44 goals in 98 Dons appearances, showing he can do it in the Scottish Premiership. The Macedonian is under contract at Ibrox until 2029.
Shankland to Rangers latest
The Scotland international, who narrowly missed out on the league title with Hearts this season, has been linked with a move to his boyhood club in season gone by but to no avail. He has now returned from a post-season holiday for his Rangers medical. Having also been Hearts captain, Shankland would represent one of the ‘leaders’ that Rohl wants in his squad, following the departure of Gers skipper James Tavernier after 11 years at the club.
Elsewhere, the Light Blues have also been linked with a move for Motherwell midfielder Elliot Watt, who the club have reportedly made enquiries about. Meanwhile, as Rohl continued his SPFL raid, the club are also keen on Dundee centre back Luke Graham, however they’ll have to fend off the likes of Stoke City, Norwich City and Preston for the 22-year old.
