Rangers starting XI if transfer rumours turn true this summer including Tottenham raid success

Here’s a possible Rangers XI next season if current rumours come to fruition.

Rangers are already gearing up for a busy summer transfer window and the rumours are already in full swing.

The Premiership title race is ongoing and head coach Danny Rohl is hoping for a Hearts slip up at Hibs, plus a victory for himself over Motherwell, that would send the Ibrox side top by two points with four games left. It’s been a rollercoaster season and upgrading the squad for next season will be key.

There will be departures in the summer like captain James Tavernier and other areas may be looked at. Here’s a possible starting XI next season for Rangers based on recent rumours.

GK - Pierce Charles

Would be really harsh on Jack Butland were he to be ousted as number one this summer, but links to the Sheffield Wednesday number one won’t go away, and he worked with Rohl while he was boss at the Owls. Not likely to be at Hillsborough in League One and has shown his quality in a difficult campaign.

RB - Hampus Skoglund

A Tavernier replacement will be needed and there have been no shortage of possible replacements already mentioned. One is Hammarby’s Hampus Skoglund, who has impressed in Sweden, and been capped plenty at U21s level in his homeland. Now 22, he is contracted until 2029, featuring over 70 times overall for his current club. Wrexham in the English Championship are also claimed to be interested alongside a clutch of clubs in Europe.

CB - Emmanuel Fernandez

It’s easier to find clubs not linked to the impressive centre-back but we’re backing Rangers to keep hold of the man they signed from Peterborough United last summer. He said ahead of the Motherwell clash on his future: “I haven’t heard anything. I see myself being here.”

CB - Nasser Djiga

One of the club’s loan stars this season, Djiga has been linked with a permanent Rangers switch, with his Wolves future unresolved. Asking price and his parent club’s relegation could be sticking point.

LB - Tuur Rommens

Arguably Rangers’ best winter signing, the Belgian left-back is a stick on here right now, adding quality going both ways.

CDM - Elliot Watt

In the PFA Scotland Team of the Year alongside Fernandez is the Motherwell midfielder. So key to the Steelmen’s possession-based style and said to be one Rohl likes.

CM - Nico Raskin

Watt’s arrival, or any type of out and out number six, allows the Belgian to push into a more advanced number eight position.

CM - Tochi Chukwuani

Winter import from Sturm Graz has proven a powerful and combative addition to the engine room at Ibrox. Can see him being in the middle for years to come.

RW - Djeidi Gassama

Started on fire after arriving from Sheffield Wednesday but performances a touch patchy since. A full pre-season with his boss who knows him well should see him improve for new season.

ST - Tyrese Campbell

Sheffield United star has been linked to both sides of the Old Firm. Likely an area of need in the summer amid inconsistencies for the likes of Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski.

LW - Mikey Moore

Getting him back permanently from Tottenham will be tough but Rangers’ desire to bring Moore back following a great loan is an open secret. If Spurs stay up in the Premier League this looks feasible.
