Rangers make transfer feelings clear over Tottenham player but 'perilous' Spurs fears complicate hopes
The Tottenham player has spent this season on loan at Rangers.
Rangers hopes of a Tottenham transfer raid this summer have been put in doubt by the current relegation fears engulfing the Premier League club, it’s claimed.
Spurs find themselves in the relegation drop zone as the season hurtles towards conclusion and an unthinkable demotion to the Championship. That has put much of their summer planning in a state of flux as big name stars they could otherwise attract and top stars already at Tottenham stand unwilling to commit long-term with division uncertainty abound.
Mikey Moore is impacted by that as his breakthrough season at Rangers continues. He’s blossomed into a key attacker for Danny Rohl amid the Premiership title race but his loan deal from Tottenham expires in the summer. While Rangers would want to bring him back to Glasgow, much of that depends whether or not Tottenham’s relegation fears are realised, as a bottom three EPL finish would almost certainly see Moore integrated into parent club plans for next season’s second tier title bid.
Who will Mikey Moore play for next season?
It’s claimed in the Sun: “SunSport understands Spurs’ perilous position in England’s top-flight has muddied the waters. With just five games to go, last season’s Europa League winners are mired in a relegation dog-fight. Should they drop down, it would almost certainly see Moore return to Tottenham in the summer.
“The club’s established big-name players won’t want to play in the Championship, opening the door for the youngster’s to stake their claim. Sources insist Spurs are well aware of Rangers’ desire to bring Moore back, but much will depend on what league Roberto Di Zebri’s side find themselves in.”
With five games to go after a 2-2 draw with Brighton, Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi said of the club’s predicament, following a point versus his ex-side: “I always believe in the qualities of the players. They played a good game. I think we can play better than today, with more quality, more calm, especially when we are in ball possession, but in this moment we need this spirit, this attitude, this mentality, and it's not finished yet.
Will Tottenham be relegated from the Premier League?
"We have another five games - it's tough, every one of us knows it's a tough moment, it's a difficult situation - but we have another five games, 15 points, and this team is able to win five games in a row. Now it's difficult to hear my words, but if you watch the players, if you analyse the level of the players, I think we can win five games in a row.
"Not to be arrogant, because I'm not arrogant, especially now, but we have enough qualities to fight and to win games in a row. We are lucky because we are working in a big club, a big stadium, we are working in the Premier League. We have the right qualities to win the game, so we have to be positive, because I don't like the people who cry, who think in a negative way."
