Scottish club target Rangers transfer 'discussions' over emerging star as they set scene for 'ideal scenario'
The Rangers player has spent the season away from Ibrox.
A Scottish Championship club are keen for talks with Rangers over bringing an Ibrox talent back into their ranks next season.
Raith Rovers ended a turbulent campaign by defeating Ross County 3-2 in the final game of their second tier season, the level which they remain at ahead of term 26/27, with Dougie Imrie in charge. Paul Nsio has spent the season on loan in Kirkcaldy after signing a new two-year deal at Rangers last September prior to his switch.
He was Man of the Match in Friday’s victory over County and has impressed since Imrie took charge earlier in the campaign. The former Morton and Hamilton attacker is now keen to engage with the Premiership title chasers on a deal for the midfielder in the summer window ahead.
Who do Raith Rovers want to sign from Rangers?
He said: "Yeah, I would like to get him. It will be up to Rangers to see the progression for Paul. But with his age and just having six months of men's football, I think the ideal scenario would be for him to come back here and maybe get another 40 games under his belt.
"That will be a discussion for ourselves and Rangers to have. Hopefully, we can get something done because Paul has been brilliant over the last three months."
Imrie said after a recent defeat to champions St Johnstone of the work that needs done at Raith in the off-season: “There’s going to be big decisions have to be made. I want this group of players and this team to be better. I’ve got to give the players a little bit of leeway as well. It’s been a tough season, a lot of change and that’s never easy, it’s hard.
What changes will be made at Raith Rovers this summer?
“But I like my own team to be on the front foot, 110% every game, whether we’re playing badly or well. But certainly the last two games have summed up large parts of this season for sure. And that’s something that I’ll need to digest and make the right calls for this football club.
"St Johnstone have done amazingly to deserve a night like this but you don’t want that to be the case and allow them to have an easy ride and we certainly gave them that. But they’ve been excellent all season and to be number one for 36 games is testament to that group of players, the manager, his staff.
"They’ve got a team that are hungry, they want to run, they want to tackle, they want to run back. And at times they look for the ball, all the players are wanting the ball. They don’t go hiding when the going gets tough and that’s something that I want to install here, a real togetherness from everyone.”
