Moore, 18, broke into the Tottenham team towards the end of the 2023/24 season under Ange Postecoglou, becoming the youngest Spurs player to play in the Premier League at the age of 16 years and 277 days, surpassing Dane Scarlett's record.

The teenage prodigy made a further 19 appearances for the Lillywhite last season, earning praise from teammate James Maddison, who compared Moore to Neymar due to his technical qualities and fearlessness with the ball at his feet.

However, he was always going to struggle for minutes at Tottenham this term under Thomas Frank due to the competition in the squad, with the likes of Mathys Tel, Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, Mohammed Kudus and others all vying for minutes.

Why Mikey Moore moved to Rangers

Moore joined Rangers on a season-long loan but initially took time to settle after a series of uninspiring displays under Russell Martin. However, under Danny Rohl things have improved, with the youngster scoring his first goal for the Gers against Dundee FC before the international break.

Moore is currently nursing an injury sustained while playing for England Under-19s, but is expected to return at some point in December to fight for his position.

Speaking on the transfer, Moore’s agent told The Telegraph: “Mikey is at the stage of his career where he needs minutes and he needs to play,” he said. “It was the same with Andros (Townsend) and Harry (Kane) when they went on loan.

“They both had the characters to cope with going on loan and playing in demanding environments such as Millwall. Mikey is very similar in that respect. Tottenham were understanding.

“Johan Lange (Tottenham’s co-sporting director) and Andy Scoulding (performance manager) have both been excellent. It is far too early to say what will happen next season, but Mikey has to keep playing now, just as Andros and Harry did.”

Harry Kane’s journey to the top

While Kane is now considered one of the very best strikers in world football, it’s worth noting that it wasn’t always a formality that the player would even make it as a Premier League player nevermind an England international.

Kane was released by Arsenal as a youngster and initially rejected by Tottenham before being given a second chance by the North London outfit.

He was never regarded as a real star at academy level but constantly progressed, enjoying loan spells at Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich and Leicester City before eventually breaking into the first team in what was seen as a huge gamble at the time by Tim Sherwood. Now he’s Tottenham’s and England’s all-time record scorer and the most feared finisher in German football for Bayern Munich.

Moore will hope to go on a similar trajectory starting with Rangers.“I’m feeling a lot more confident, I’m getting used to the league, used to my teammates and the manager has helped me a lot as well,” the winger said via Ibrox News. ”He’s come in and he’s given me confidence and belief in myself which has been good from him, so I’m excited to keep going.”
