Rob Roy aiming for a fantastic five after mini-break

Kirkintilloch Rob Roy thrashed Beith 4-0 on Saturday.
Two goals in either half without reply marked Rabs’ most controlled performance of the season to date – maintaining the pressure on league leaders Auchinleck Talbot, who they trail by just a single point.
Gaffer Jimmy Lindsay was delighted that his players were able to score freely for the second game on the spin – following the recent 7-3 drubbing of Glenafton – while tightening up at the back and keeping a clean sheet for the first time this season.

He said: “I was a wee bit concerned about how the players would react to the hype after the Glenafton game, but they came out flying again.
“Diack had another great game and the club are delighted that he has been called up to the Junior Scotland Squad for their get-together later this month.
“A couple of the new boys came in and did really well too.
“I’m really pleased we didn’t give away any goals. It’s something we’ve been working on all week and we managed to keep them down to just a couple of chances.”
The manager added: “One of the most satisfying things we did was that, after we went 3-0 up, we still kept the ball well and were controlled.

“You’re not going to beat the big teams by four or five goals so you need to keep the ball like that. Touch wood we’ll be able to do that more this year.”
Lindsay’s next task will be to maintain momentum over an unwelcome break – a bye in the Scottish Cup means Rabs don’t have a competitive game this weekend.
He said: “We didn’t want this break because we’ve been doing so well and just want to keep playing.
“It’s part of the game though and we’ll just have to grind it out.

“I’ve organised a friendly against Carluke which will at least give the team a run-out before we find out our next opponents in the league.”
Rob Roy take on Carluke Rovers at John Cumming Stadium on Monday, September 24.
