Rob Roy boss Maxwell wary of threat posed by Irvine Vics

Rabs welcome Vics to Guy's Meadow for a West of Scotland Cup first round tie with the Kirkintilloch side still involved int he chase for honours on all.

Maxwell's side are still in the Superleague title shake-up, are through to the last 16 of the Scottish Junior Cup and face a derby with Kilsyth Rangers in the Central League.

But first up is the West and an Irvine Vics side the Rabs boss insists he is not taking lightly.

He said: "They got relegated last year and to be fair to their committee they's stuck with the same manager and he's delivered - they're sitting at the top end of their league and seem to be doing well.

"Results breed confidence so they'll be coming up to Rob Roy on a high and looking to take a scalp.

"They deserve every respect, but coming into February still in all competitions is what you want and we have boys playing for jerseys who wanty to take their opportunity.

"Last year we won the League Cup finished second in the league and got to the quarter-finals of the Scottish and the West. That's a good season and it was always going to be hard but you always try emulate what you've done in a successful season.

"It's hard to improve on such a good season, even trying to sustain it is hard, but we've got try and keep it going and we'll not be taking our foot off the gas on Saturday.

"This is the strongest squad I've had - my bench on Saturday could all have started the game and if we decide to mix it up on Saturday it's not that we are weakening the team.

"We're just giving boys an opportunity to lay their marker down."
