Rossvale rebuilding as seven out-of-contract players depart

Seven first-team players are leaving Rossvale as the club prepares for its first season as a senior club.

The club has confirmed that Jamie Donnelly, Matt Niven, Liam McGonigle, Gary Giffin, Frazer Johnstone, Del McNab and Joe Slattery are all departing this summer at the end of their contracts.

A club statement on their Twitter feed said: “We would like to thank them all for their professionalism whilst at the club and wish them all the best for the future.”

Giffin, who has agreed to join Rutherglen Glencairn, tweeted: “Been an amazing 3 seasons. Great club, great people running it. All the best going forward.”

And ex-team-mate McGonigle posted: “3 unbelievable years at the Vale won a league, won promotion and stayed in the Prem... thank you for everything.”

Vale boss David Gormley will now look to reshape his squad in preparation for the club's first season in the new West of Scotland League.
