With games running out for Rangers to retain their Super League status next season it is essential that they take something from their home matches, and particularly those against the teams just above them.

In this instance they failed the test and it now looks increasingly likely that they are doomed to inhabit the District League next season.

This must rank as one of their poorest displays yet. Thorniewood were ahead in almost every respect and with a big strong side managed by ex-Kilsyth player Keiron McGuinness, look likely to maintain their place in the Super League.

A minute’s silence was observed before the kick-off in memory of Tom Barrie, ex-provost and lifelong Rangers supporter; and also Bob Kelly, former club president.
