United still to play in Scottish as Gers go out of West

The game was called off again on Saturday, due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Guy’s Meadow outfit have not had a competitive game this year, boss John Queen is eager to get the tie played.

“Hopefully the game will go ahead this weekend. This is our fourth attempt at playing this tie and the next round is due to be played on February 15,” he said.

“Dalry managed to arrange a friendly with Beith on Saturday, so they have had managed to get match practice.

“We only managed to train at our own ground.

“We are champing at the bit to get this game played. I just hope that the lack of match practice doesn’t let us down.”

Kilsyth Rangers’ game against Arthurlie in the West of Scotland Cup went ahead, but unfortunately the Duncansfield outfit went out of the competition.

Manager Eric Sinlair was disappointed with the result but was pleased with his team’s performance.

The Gers face St Roch this Saturday in a Central League Cup first-round tie.

“St Roch’s may be a lower league club, but this will be a hard game,” said Sinclair.

“It will be a different challenge from our last few games. St Roch will be fired up for it.”
