VIDEO – Rob Roy roar back into action with four-goal thriller against Linlithgow

ROB Roy relinquished a two-goal first-half lead – allowing Scottish Junior Cup finalists Linlithgow Rose to pull the score back to all square in what was a competitive and highly entertaining encounter on Saturday.

Both sides attacked from the first whistle at Adamslie Park, with Smith testing Rabs keeper McKinven in the first minute then at the other end Team fired an angular shot narrowly past the post before Smith’s snap shot was easily taken by McKinven.

Midway through the half Coyne rattled the home crossbar with a fierce 30-yard volley.

Rabs grabbed the lead in the 35th minute when Sawyers set Fraser Team free on the left, before the former Knightswood Juveniles player curled a high shot into the corner of the net.

Rose had a chance to equalise minutes later, but McKinven did well to block Ovenstone’s header.

Four minutes before the break Rabs doubled their lead when Team sent over a perfect cross for Willie Sawyers to send a glancing header into the back of the net.

In the 44th minute Deas’ powerful free-kick was brilliantly pushed wide by keeper Scott.

Rose pulled a goal back a minute into the second half when Kennedy pulled down McLennan in the penalty box. Tommy Coyne sent the spot-kick low into the corner of the net.

Rabs came close in the 65th minute with Ferguson’s effort from close range blocked.

Linlithgow squared matters in the 70th minute when Roddy McLennan hammered home a volley from outside the penalty box.

Rabs continued to press forward. Scott spilled a Team long-range strike, but recovered before any damage was done.

Ferguson failed to make proper contact in front of goal and Andreoni had his shot blocked by Scott.

Up to the final whistle both sides continued to play attractive passing football and in the end a draw was a fair result.
