In the end they were eight minutes from going into extra time and were undone by a determined Harmony Row side.

Blackies knew going into this game that they were facing opposition much stronger than in the previous finals.

Watch had a great opportunity in the seventh minute when a Prentice cross across goal from the left was missed by a number of Campsie players who could have easily tapped in.

Row, however, secured the opener – going ahead in the 20th minute through a McLaughlin free-kick from 25 yards, which gave Blackies keeper Storey no chance.

Worse was to follow seven minutes later.Watch failed to deal with a cross from Longridge on the right which was headed down by McQuade for a Row player to net easily.

Watch as a club had experienced this disappointment all too often in Scottish Cup finals, but there was a fightback in the 32nd minute.

Whiteford and McGeough worked together to send Cairney away through the middle. The ball went to McIlroy, who ran clear of the Row defence to pass the ball beyond the Row keeper and into the net from 12 yards. Black Watch had given themselves a chance and made the running after the interval – looking the better team.

There was joy in the Campsie camp in the 60th minute. A long cross-field pass from Whiteford to Cairney on the left saw the striker move beyond the Row defence and shoot. The ball seemed to hit an opponent’s hand, but there was Steven Aitken to blast the ball high into the net.

It looked like fortunes might be changing for the Watch, but Row went in from again. A pass from McQuade on the left saw Slater beat the Watch defence in the 82nd minute.

The club are disappointed to lose out in the Scottish Cup final and would like to thank all their supporters for turning out on the day.
