This game at Duncansfield on Saturday once again proved Watch are well on track to have another successful season.

Blackies went 1-0 behind in the 10th minute when they failed to halt a Kilsyth raid that saw a header beat keeper Storey from close in.

At times the showers of rain were excessive, but it did not stop both sides from producing a non-stop attacking game on a perfect pitch.

Black Watch were awarded a penalty in the 33rd minute when Prentice was pulled down in the box, Cairney’s spot kick saw keeper Duke bring off a brilliant save.

Watch went 2-0 down in the 55th minute when, from the left wing, a high ball to the back post saw keeper McDade unable to keep it from hitting the back of the net.

It was after this that Blackies produced an extraordinary display of real quality.

McIlroy made a long pass through the middle from Welsh, the wing half was racing away from the home defence then rounded keeper Pennycook to net in the 63rd minute.

Black Watch were now taking over the game and there was no way the players were overawed by the junior players.

The attacking play was superb and when Declan Cairney hit a brilliant goal from 30 yards in the 77th minute to make it 2-2 it looked as if Watch would go on and win.

Cairney, again with a 25 yard strike, saw keeper Pennycook bring off a brilliant save.

The game finished in torrential rain, but Watch players must take the credit for an outstanding performance.

* On Wednesday Watch lost 1-0 to a very strong Ashfield team at Saracen Park. Blackies were in impressive form and did not show any inferiority against the junior side. Watch play Broomhouse Amateurs on Saturday with a 2pm kick off.

Tote numbers for Saturday were 44 and 26. There was no winner, £300 next week.
