Forth Wanderers docked promotion after manager’s “massive mistake”

FORTH Wanderers manager Jamie McKenzie has admitted making “a massive mistake” by breaking Scottish Junior Football Association rules by playing for Forth when still registered as a player with his former club Vale of Clyde.

McKenzie’s decision to play in the crucial 3-0 Central Division 2 victory at Rossvale on April 28 – a game in which he scored a goal – this week saw Forth hit with a three-point deduction which has ultimately cost them promotion to a higher league for the first time in 15 years.

“We hold our hands up and admit that we’re in the wrong,” Jamie said. “The club is very disappointed to miss promotion.
