Glasgow derbies

WHILE GHA are finding more joy in the cup than the league, it’s quite the opposite for local rivals Cartha.

The Dumbreck side, who sit top of Championship A, were outclassed by Premier one giants Glasgow Hawks in a 43-3 loss at home.

However, GHA, who currently sit in seventh place in the national league after a tough start to the season, showed their dominance as they fight for a place at Murrayfield.

THe Braidholm side will face Dalziel, a side who they defeated twice last season, knowing that a win would book a place in the West regional cup semi-finals against Hillhead Jordanhill.

The Southsiders gained a bonus point win last weekend as they comfortably beat Greenock Wanderers 41-12 to put them top of their group.

GHA Head Coach Gordon MacPherson believes it is important to do well in the cup.

He told ExtraSport: “To get to a big game would be good for the club and give us a bit of a boost.

“They will give it a good go and I think since we are a division above them they would like to think we would be a good scalp.

“We just have to be wary of complacency and not take them too lightly.

“If we keep up our standards and take care of Dalziel. If we were to lose, we would be tremendously disappointed. We will be hoping for victory.”
