The 19-year-old was awarded the indvidual prize for Scottish Amateur Golfer of the Year.

Ewen’s contribution to the Great Britain and Ireland’s team’s record-breaking victory over the United States at Royal Lytham & St Annes in September was the undoubted highlight of his year, but it was far from his only major success.

In what was his first full season’s at men’s level he won twice domestically - capturing the Scottish Champion of Champions Trophy and the Craigmillar Park Open - and as well as being Scotland’s number one ranked amateur golfer he also broke into the top 50 of the World Amateur Golf Rankings, earning him an exemption to the US Amateur Championships.

On the team front Ewen helped Scotland lift their second Men’s European Amateur Team Championship title in six years, defeating Denmark in the final at Halmstad in Sweden.

Then came Walker Cup glory in Lancashire as Ewen, after being named as a late replacement, secured an important point for his side on the opening day with a one-hole win over Maverick McNealy.

Ewen has been playing golf since he was three years old and joined Bearsden Golf Club when he was just six.

In 2013 he became the first Scot to win The Boys Amateur Championship in almost a decade in August 2013 and sealed a notable double in 2014 with Scottish Boys and Scottish Boys Stroke Play titles, becoming the first player to hold both trophies and the Boys Amateur at the same time.
