One of the most eagerly-awaited finals was that of the Gents Club Championship between course record holder Colin Peddie and Steven Boyle.

Colin got off to a great start and ended up five holes up after the first round in the morning. Steven fought back well in the afternoon round, but Colin proved too strong, eventually taking the trophy with a 3 and 2 victory.

Colin said: “I am delighted. There are a lot of great names on that trophy and to add mine to the list really was a target I have set myself since I joined here three years ago.”

Jorden Ferrie, a promising young amateur player, was out to retain her Ladies Club Championship trophy and did so with an impressive win over past champion Ria Waddell.

“It was a great match with Ria who I have known for a long time and we both gave it our best shot.”

Club Captain Duncan Gray said: “All those members competing today should rightly be proud of their efforts, win or lose. To have got this far in these competitions really is a great achievement in itself.”
